My first introduction to VHD was way back when the Sci-Fi channel had thier anime nights, I had a friend tell me about it, and I had to check it out. VHD was the first anime I saw on there and was hooked, I did what I could to find the movie on VHS back then. In fact it was a birthday gift from my dad that year. Since then I have been looking for and collecting/reading all the VHD books, mangas, I have both movies on VHS and DVD. I have even gone so far as collecting the other books that Mr. Hideyuki Kikuchi has has published here in the US. I still have aspirations of getting a tattoo of D's Sword.

What originally got me into Vampire Hunter D was the second anime movie, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. At first, the movie piqued my interest because of the fact that it was directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri but I ended up becoming a big fan of it because of the fighting and decapitation. What can I say, I'm not the most deep individual out there.

Nine chapters, nine viewpoints:

--Hendrik 'Beethoven' Verbraecken might have looked at Jef Geys from a musical angle;

--Leon Decreton's gallery featured Jeg Geys's artworks: his view might be favourable;

--Museum director Remi Vandam has his opinions;

--Walter van den Broek wrote the book (this rhymes);

--David 'The Dancer' Colman was another gallery director whose talking about Jef Geys might be akin to dancing about architecture;

--Senator Arnold van Riet might think he is the authority on the subject;

--Journalist Rudolf van der Veeken might presume his report is objective;

--Adrien Laborde, like his gallery 'Peintures d'aujourd'hui', might claim the contemporary view;

--Nina Geys looks at him through a daughter's eyes;

Nine people, nine viewpoints: the author supposedly believes that the order in which (obviously biased) information is received strongly determines its truthfullness. Hence 362,880 x Jef Geys (the chapters can be read in any order: 9x8x7x6x5x4x3x2x1 = 362,880) by Walter van den Broekck (available in English since July 2012: http://www.amazon.com/362-880-x-Jef-Geys-ebook/dp/B008HRM7YK ).

Too late: I know. I just couldn't resist...;-)

Meh... It's getting worse, first time was "Super Meh" (at least sounds nice) but now "Semper Men" the hell? I'll use my name and surname next time :P

It was about Fifty Shades of Grey but the realm of 3 cuils seems fine Oo.
I'm glad to see my nickname, or at least the "Semper" from my nickname as a Honorable Mention. As I used some inapropiate Spanish words, I don't even want to know what Google Translate did to my comment but I'm sure it was even better than what I wrote.

BTW congrats to all the winners and to Kathleen for that paid internship heh. And as always, sorry for my bad english :)

The strangest book I've ever read was 'The Labyrinth' by Catherynne M. Valente. Although formally published, she originally wrote it for NaNoWriMo. Lots of confusion, beautiful but strange similes, repetition, vagina dentata references... and very little coherent plot (which is part of why I enjoyed it - figuring out what was happening was very satisfying.)

The strangest book I’ve ever read is called “After comma”, and sure enough it starts with a comma. What follows next is a six hundred pages long stream of consciousness of a young woman who just died in a car crash. That seems like a lot of consciousness. It is.

No paragraphs, but who needs them? Memories, musings about art and beliefs, regrets, impressions and conversations flow into each other with seemingly effortless fluidity, all of them one way or another revolving death. But what else would you be concerned with in the afterlife? As if something else but death is happening, no? And that’s what I was thinking until the book ended with a dash in the middle of a word. Death is just a comma, Beavis…

What’s in a dash?

Now, you’d ask me where you would get this fantastic book. I know it’s your secret desire to read six hundred captivating pages on death, dying, and the meaning of all our protein shenanigans. Well, take your pick: Limited edition, long out of print, no ebook, never translated to English…
